Egypt's automotive industry is set to receive a boost after China's ROX Motor partnered with Ezz El Arab El Sewedy Industrial Investment Group to manufacture vehicles locally and expand export capacity. The venture will produce ROX range-extended electric vehicle models locally. Annual production is expected to gradually reach about 10,000 vehicles within the first three years of operation, with exports to Gulf and African markets set to begin in the second half of 2027, the investment ministry said in a press release. The vehicles will be manufactured at Ezz Elsewedy Automotive Factories' $100 million industrial base, which currently has production capacity of about 40,000 vehicles annually. Planned expansion phases are expected to increase capacity to more than 80,000 vehicles per year.
